Policy Officer, DG Energy Unit B.4 – Digitalisation, Competitiveness, Research & Innovation
Eric Lecomte is Policy Officer at the European Commission’s DG Energy since 2015.
As Policy Officer in the DG Energy, Eric is in charge notably of: energy efficiency and transition to carbon neutrality in industry; heat pumps for industrial, commercial and residential applications; Direct Current technologies (high voltage and low voltage DC).
In this frame, he is coordinating the development of research and innovation topics related to energy intensive industries in the Cluster “Energy, Climate and Mobility” of the Horizon Europe framework programme.
Eric also coordinates two Implementation Working Groups of Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan), the firs one on ‘sustainable and efficient energy use in industry’ and the second one on ‘HVDC and other DC technologies’.
Eric contributes to the Competitiveness Progress Report (CPR) on Heat pumps and on industrial heat recovery and upgrade.
Prior to this, he was Research Programme Officer at DG Research and Innovation for six years.
Before joining the European Commission in 2009, Eric worked in industry for 19 years, mainly for Thales Alenia Space, as head of the Electrical Power Conditioning Units product line for space application.
Eric Lecomte has an Engineering degree from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, as well as a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, US.
