Henk Jan Vink has been elected as president of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) in April 2024.Hin his daily life he is Managing Director of TNO Energy & Materials Transition (EMT).

To achieve a European society and economy in 2050 that will be healthy, sustainable and emission-free. Achieving carbon neutrality in energy-use and embracing full circularity in materials are essential.

With + 1.000 colleagues in 19 research groups TNO EMT works towards achieving the 2050 Climate Goals, in order to have a sustainable and circular society that supports a thriving economy. TNO EMT consists of four strongly connected divisions

• Geological Survey of the Netherlands, focuses on the deep and shallow subsurface. This division is responsible for the statutory task of the Geological Survey as well as R&D with and for companies and organizations.
• EMT Industry, Contributes to achieving a CO2-neutral and circular industry.
• EMT Energy Supply, Contributes to the realization of a climate-neutral, reliable and affordable energy system.
• EMT System Solutions & Environment, Enables effective policy and behavioral change in the complex Energy and Materials transitions and climate.
  
  

Henk Jan is active in many research & innovation related boards and committees both national and international. Before entering in this position in November 2022 he has held several Director and Senior management positions within TNO.
