Dr. Attila Aszódi works as full professor at the Institute of Nuclear Techniques of Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary (BME). He is currently also the dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of BME. Between 1999 and 2014 he was the head of the training reactor at BME. Between 2004 and 2014 he was the director of the BME Institute of Nuclear Technology. Following the Fukushima accident in Japan in 2011, he participated as an expert for the European Commission in the Targeted Safety Review of European nuclear power plants. Between 2014 and 2019 he used to be government commissioner and later secretary of state responsible for the Paks II. nuclear new build project. He took part in several projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the European Commission. He has more than 300 published scientific papers. His research interest is energy policy and sustainability, electricity market and supply security, nuclear power plants, reactor safety and thermal hydraulics of nuclear reactors.
