Senior expert

Robert Freund is a senior expert at UIV Urban Innovation Vienna, the climate and innovation agency of the City of Vienna. He is responsible for the coordination of a national Austrian PED R&D project. The research-related tasks focus on flexibility issues related to renewable electricity surpluses, business models for photovoltaics and user behaviour. He also carries out selected tasks in the framework of the Viennese initiative to phase out natural gas and the initiative to increase the installed capacity of photovoltaics. In previous positions at the Austrian Society for Environment and Technology and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency, he was involved in research funding programmes such as “Building of Tomorrow” and “Building of Tomorrow Plus”, including participation in ERA-net Erabuild and ERA-net Eracobuild. His work as an independent consultant had included the coordination of an R&D demonstration building project aiming at plus energy standard and the preparation of a workshop of the IEA Expert Group on R&D Priority Setting and Evaluation (EGRD).
